Akshay Kumar’s Hari Om Entertainment plans to focus on producing South Indian language cinema, and Sandalwood is to be its first stop.
The production house will open this chapter with an action-thriller. The bilingual project is to be directed by Nanda Kishore, and star Puneeth Rajkumar in Kannada and Akshay Kumar in Hindi.
Bengaluru-based designer and Akshay’s close friend Ramesh Dembla will oversee the production.
Pictures of Puneeth along with Akshay, Ramesh and Nanda Kishore have been doing the rounds on social media. A meeting was held in Mumbai on Tuesday, and few more rounds of discussion among the makers are pending, before an official announcement.
The Bollywood star is said to have come up with the idea for the story. It has been Kishore’s dream to foray into Bollywood, and has been in touch with a few Hindi production houses. The director has even sent synopsis of his stories to some industry bigwigs and, we hear, they have been showing interest. But he could hardly have hoped for a better opportunity than to be launched by Akshay.
Puneeth Rajkumar awaiting the release of his 25th film, Doddmane Hudga, is currently shooting for Rajakumara. He is likely to start his next project in November, after which he be available for the action-thriller.
The film tentatively to go on floors in January 2017.
