The makers of Nataraja Service have come up with a unique way of promoting their movie. Director Pavan Wadeyar says that every celebrity would've fallen back on Nataraja Service (a colloquial term for walking in Kannada) atleast once in their life.
"We will have celebrities from the Kannada industry share an experience of walking and what the situation was," says Pavan. "Puneeth Rajkumar has already recorded his and the rest of the stars will follow, starting Monday."
When has the director needed that walk? And Pavan reveals that it was when he was hunting for a producer for his debut Govindaya Namaha.
“I was put in touch with a producer Prasad who made me run around to meet him. Back then, I used to travel from Kunigal to Bengaluru to meet people in the industry. That day, the producer had initially asked me to meet him at Majestic and, since I planned to return home after meeting him, I spent all my money on lunch. Then the producer called to say that he wanted to meet at Mathikere. I ended up walking quite a distance," the director said.
The producer never came on board, but it taught Pavan valuable lessons.
Particularly, "the struggle of a director to fulfil his dream... Even today, when I am depressed, I walk alone in darkness."
The director, who has also written a song Petrol Mugidare Nataraja Service, says the idea for the song came to him when he was pushing his bike along.
The film's makers are excited that their recently released song Allah Allah, featuring Ravi Shankar, got 3 lakh views on a social media website.
Pavan says, “I wrote this song three years ago when I had thought of doing Nataraja Service right after my debut Govindaya Namaha, and when I was still celebrating the hit Pyarige Aagbittaite." Pyarige... written by Pavan and composed by Gurukiran, in 2012, was nominated for best male and female singers in Kannada.
Pavan adds, "But since I got involved with other projects, I could not devote time for Nataraja Service. I am glad this song has been received very well,” he says.
“The catchy lyrics, tune and choreography have caught audience's eye. Secondly, this is an introductory song for the hero but he doesn’t appear till its end. So the concept clicked,” he says.
This romantic comedy presented by Puneeth Rajkumar and produced by NS Rajkumar features Mayuri in the female lead.
Mayuri's superhit film Krishna Leela last year brought her offers from Tamil and Telugu industries, and Nataraja Service is her second movie in Kannada.
The music is composed by Anoop Seelin and cinematography is done by Arul K Somasundaram.
