For music director Anoop Seelin, a long pending dream will finally be realised when Puneeth Rajkumar releases the audio of the film, Jessie starring Dhananjay and Parul Yadav. It will be the realisation of an aspiration that he had been nurturing for long — to own his audio company. Named JP Music, after his father, Jaya Prasad, the music director who has composed music for 15 films in Sandalwood would walk tall on Valentine’s Day when the music album releases from his audio banner.

“This film is a fresh new love story coming from Pavan Wadeyar, and so the songs and release date relate,” says Anoop.

Having experimented with varied kinds of music, the director says that Jessie will be unique to be added to his kitty. “I did the background score (BG) for Pavan’s Googly and this time, along with BG, I have done the songs too,” he says and adds that he is also glad to have got an opportunity to work for a big banner like RS Productions following with Nataraja Service, which is presented by Puneeth Rajkumar and produced by

NS Rajkumar. “Working with Pavan also gives me an opening into commercial films,” he says.

Speaking about the music in Jessie, Anoop reveals that there are four romantic songs to match the theme. “Music for the theme is inspired by the director’s narration and with me, I like to bring in my personal experiences to the love song to make it more soothing,” he says and adds that he has used instruments like the violin,

shehanayi and guitar as characters in each song of Jessie. “I always wanted people to recognise music through the instrument. I want to bring in that clarity through my music,” he says.

According to him, one unique feature of Jessie will be the introduction song. “Each time the introduction of a heroine is sung by a woman. This time a male voice will introduce Parul Yadav in the film,” he reveals.

He also asserts that the lyrics would be the plus-point of the film and credits Pavan for them. “With Pavan’s help, I was able to compose two songs on the same day.

Secondly, I was waiting for long to compose tunes for one of Jayanti Kaikini lyrics, which was possible with Bhagyaraj and now with Jessie. Rohit Padaki has written lyrics for the fourth song and his wordings have added freshness to the music,” he points out.

Anoop also discloses that the role of music has become a vital aspect in the process of filmmaking and asserts that it can decide on the film’s ultimate fate. “If the content is good and we blend in good background

music and songs, then we can reach through to the audience. If there is a certain weakness, the music can become the bridge, though it is not done deliberately,” he says.

Anoop also insists that he doesn’t go out of the script when providing music for a film. “Luckily I have been working with content-oriented directors. I try to maintain the soul of the subject and make sure that my music does not dominate. I like to work on the texture of the story,” he says.

Interestingly, Anoop reveals that if he directs a film, he would like to run the film only with background music. “I do wish to direct sometime and I will not have songs,” he says.
