While Sriimurali-starrer Rathaavara is successfully heading towards its 50th day, the good news is that Vishal Film Factory has bought the remake rights of this Kannada film and will now be remade in three languages - Tamil, Telugu and Malyalam. Interestingly, director Chandrashekar Bandiyappa who got a thumbs-up with his secondfilm will be helming the same project in the other languages and Vishal will be essaying the role of Sriimurali in all the three languages. An excited director says: “Everything is confirmed and we just need to discuss when the film will be going on the floors, which will happen after Sankranthi. Vishal has a Tamil film Kathakali  slated for Pongal release and he is busy with that project. The actor liked Rathaavara and he came forward to remake it in Tamil. Since he has a market in Tollywood, the film will be dubbed in Telugu. We are planning to bring in the right star cast so that it will be considered in Malayalam too. They have plans to go on floors immediately,” he says.

Chandrashekar is happy that Kannada films are now being considered for remakes in other languages. “Many movies from other languages are being remade in Kannada. Likewise, the scenario of Kannada cinema is changing and good original scripts are being noticed. Directors in Sandalwood are more educated and their vision towards cinema has changed. Such opportunities come knocking at our door to prove that we are on par with directors of other languages,” he says.

The director who is applauded for Rathaavara has been approached by Kannada’s local producers too, but he is yet to finalise on the subject. “I am waiting for Rathaavara to complete 50 days and only then will decide on my next Kannada film,” he says.
