The family of veteran actor Narasimharaju believes that each member should be willing to let go of their non-showbiz, to lead a life that is in their blood. After SD Arvinda, who made a mark as a director and his brother Avinash Narasimharaju as art director and actor, the youngest talent coming out from the veteran’s abode is Samarth Narasimharaju. All of 20 years, he was aspiring to be a pilot, which faded away. Currently studying journalism while doing a diploma in direction and acting, his debut in his brother’s film Last Bus, in which he will be seen as one of the lead actors, was unexpected, according to him.

“I had a blink-and-miss role in Arvinda’s previous film Jugaari. When he asked me to audition for Last Bus, it didn’t work out the first time. But I prepared myself again and gave my second audition and got selected. After a few days, we all had a workshop, when he revealed that I was playing one of the lead roles,” he reveals and adds with a chuckle that his first scene was to hang himself!

For Samarth, the film is a psychological mystery thriller, a totally new genre. “Once the audience watches the film, they will know that it is not a horror movie, but it will still scare,” says the actor who is in his second year of college and attracted to adventure, horror and experimental films. “I am a big

Akshay Kumar fan. He has inspired me a lot,” he declares.

Speaking about the atmosphere while working with Arvinda as a director, Samarth says, “He is my aunt’s son, but the atmosphere was very professional. He always thinks out of the box, takes risks and wants to give the audience something spectacular. Arvinda’s strength is his capacity  to transform his thought into portrayal,” he says.

‘I have my grandfather’s traits’

Being Narasimha Raju’s grandson, the actor says that he has the gift of comic timing. “Nobody can come close to my grandfather. What he has done to the Kannada industry is quite magical. His blessing is so much on me that I am also good with comedy. People tell me that I have the comical traits of my grandfather. I am also good at imitating and if I share space with a person for two minutes, I think I can enact him,” the actor asserts.
