Director Suni is someone who has tried to redefine perfection with simple elements of life. Simplag Ondhu Love Story set a new benchmark in filmmaking while Ulidavaru Kandante for which he was one of the producers' was nearly a cult film. Now, with Operation Alamelamma, a thriller with kidnapping at its core, he seems to be doing what he does best — perfecting simplicity.
Going by the first look of the film, which City Express got hold of, Suni manages to arouse curiosity with simple elements that tell a story even in its stillness.
The first look sees Shraddha Srinath (of U-Turn fame) in a saree and debutant Manish Rishi in a minimalistic street-smart look, with a bright lemon-coloured scooter for a prop. The audience is surely in for a treat that delves into the profound in common people’s lives.
Speaking about her character in her second Kannada film, Shraddha says she plays a young school teacher.
“I play a middle-class girl, who loves to have fun. But she has responsibilities that force her to tone it down. She hates to wear a saree, but has to. It is an entertaining character and the film has a lot of things going for it,” she says.
With 15 days of shoot left and one song pending, to be shot in August, the director is currently filming at a school.
The movie produced by Amerj will be Suni’s first attempt at a thriller, which revolves around kidnapping in which the police trap an innocent man. The film has Abhishek Kasargod as its cinematographer.
Suni has roped in a new music director, Vasan.
"He is from Chennai and has been associated with music director AR Rahman. Officially this is his first film," Suni says
