Radhika Pandit’s career chart clearly indicates that she never believed in making compromises to further her ambition.

For her, the aim was to reign supreme in films through roles that allow her to perform and she has stuck to it from her first film.

Known for her profound portrayals, she is now blurring the lines between seriousness and laughter with her next, Zoom.

For the first time, Radhika has attempted to be part of a comedy film and according to her she had never tried to be funny on screen, nor was she given such a role before.

“Of course, comedy is a difficult genre, which I realised when I shot for Zoom. When the script came along, I was confident because of my familiarity with director Prashant Raj with whom I had done films like Love Guru and Gaana Bajanaa,” she says while adding that with Ganesh, Sadhu Kokila and senior actor, Kashinath around, all three spontaneous actors, the mood on the sets always was laughter.

The resolute actress says that she found enough scope to perform in the film. “If one goes through my list of films, I have made sure not to take up a subject which doesn’t allow me to perform. I have not considered the length of the role, but have always felt the need to know how much my contribution can add value to the script. Zoom is a subject on those lines,” she asserts.

Speaking about the film, Radhika reveals that her character has similar traits as in real life.

“I very much relate to character of Naina in real life. She believes in hard work whereas the hero believes in smart work. Even if I have got things late in certain ways because of hard work, I am happy that I have achieved through my own effort. So, I am what I am in the film too,” she points out.

Going by the rushes of the film, it is evident that the actress will be seen in a stylised avatar as never seen before in any of her films.

“Though I look stylish in my previous films, I didn’t have a drastic change as in Zoom. My hairdo makes me look completely different and my attire is akin to that of an advertising professional. It was necessary for me to be dressed in formals and in western clothes,” she mentions while hinting that the outfits convey the personality of the character who has her head on her shoulders.

Describing her co-star Ganesh, with whom she is working for the first time, as a fun person, she specially points out that his comic timing is brilliant.

“To match him, you need to be alert. I also realised he is a very easy going person in real life, always maintaining laughter on the sets. When you have a good actor, it becomes easy,” she says.

For the first time, Radhika has rendered her voice for Zoom and she has been getting positive responses.

“When the song does not sound perfect and you hear an unusual voice, there is a sort of freshness to it, which the audience has started accepting. In my case, Hai Diwana was a pretty easy song to start off. If it were a melody, which requires knowledge of music, I wouldn’t have tried it at all,” the actress says.
