Forty six years after his popular lead role in Nagarahaavu, it could be happenstance that Kodi Ramakrishna is bringing back Vishnuvardhan to life for the late actor’s 201st film. Although a carefully crafted winning formula, going by the look of the poster of the upcoming film, Nagarahavu, the makers are making news for the effort put in towards promotions.  Though the director has managed not to reveal much about the film, it is said that Vishnuvardhan and Ramya will be seen in 140-ft and 120-ft snake avatars, which will be one of the highlights of Nagarahavu.

The 3D poster of the actor has caught the attention of world media, having been nominated at Lenticular Print Awards, hosted at Drupa, the largest printing equipment exhibition in the world, held once in three years by Messe Dusseldorf in Dusseldorf, Germany.

While the standees of Vishnuvardhan have been creating a lot of buzz, a grand teaser has been planned by the makers on May 30 when they are planning to erect a 50-ft cut-out of the actor. It is also heard that Ramya and Diganth, who plays the lead roles in the film, will make an appearance on the day.  “The teaser will give the glimpse of Nagarahavu and the CG work that has been done in the film, which is probably the first time in Kannada cinema,” says co-director Yogesh M.

“The teaser event will be more like a festival with rallies, dollu and damaru kunita. We will have artistes coming from across Karnataka,” he adds.

According to sources, one 3D standee of Nagaharavu cost the makers Rs. 47,000 and they had gone ahead with 60 standees. Sources add that they have also made local standees numbering about 250. “The 3D standees have been specially done in Mumbai,” sources reveal.

According to Yogesh, the reason to come out with such massive promotions is to ensure that Nagarahavu reaches every nook and cranny of Karnataka and around the globe. “Nagarahavu is not a conventional film. It is a product which uses the latest technology and a lot of investment has gone into it,” he says.

Produced by Sajid Qureshi and Jayanthilal Gada, the makers have already spent Rs 40 crore on the film. And they are confident that the film will stand out for the effort that has gone into the CG work. “Nagarahavu will have one hour of CG works in the two-hour long film. A grand audio and trailer launch has been planned for the film in June and we hope to release Nagarahavu in July,” Yogesh says.
