Sandalwood has always welcomed people with passion and talent in their makes, no matter what degree they hold or where they are from. The industry has seen a lot of engineers making a career in the entertainment world, who have today made a place for themselves in the Kannada industry.
This number has only increased especially now, with the team of Badmaash that comprises 11 engineers. The 11 include director, Akash Srivatsa, actor Dhananjay, producer Ravi Kashyap, Screenplay writer Santhosh, Dialogue writers Vinod Prateek, line producers Mahesh, Vivek, Nagbhushan and Priyanka and assistant director Anup.
“Did engineering just to for education’s sake. Destiny had something else in store for us. Everyone in the team is here to follow their passion,” says the director.
Akash himself was passionate about filmmaking quite early on, but pursued engineering owing to family pressure.
“I started with film just a day after I got my degree results. Initially, in 2005, I was totally clueless about my journey and used to roam in the streets of Gandhinagar. I started out as a production boy,” he recalls.
He considers engineer-turned-actor, Ramesh Aravind as his mentor and godfather. “If not for him, I wouldn’t have been here. He is the actor-director, who taught the ‘grammar of cinema’,” says the director.
Akash started his film career with Sulle Sathya and he will now test waters as a director with Badmaash, which will be his first feature film. Badmaash also features Sanchita Shetty in the female lead.
