Chakravarthy's underworld look revealed

Director Chintan says Darshan’s mass image is for his fans while the overlying theme is of family bonding

Having soared to stardom with films having a sense of outrage, Darshan had mellowed down, opting for family dramas, until Chakravarthy happened and he was urged by director Chintan to take up the machete again.

In one of the avatars for Chakravarthy, released by the makers, the actor is seen in a retro look with check shirts, bell bottoms and a rugged style moustache taking the audience back to the 1970s and 80s. The last time Darshan was seen in such a shade was in the 2006 film, Thangigagi.

“He portrays the typical angry young man and the rebel look stands out,” says Chintan. But the director is quick to clarify that though the film underlines the underworld subject, the family drama is the core of the film. “The underworld aspect just comes as a twist and the rage in his personality will be a treat for his fans, who were longing to see him in the rebel avatar. But on the whole, the treatment of the film will suit all kinds of audiences. "There is an overt and strong showcase of the relationship between a husband and a wife, which has come out very well, and the underlying underworld theme will keep the curiosity alive,” he adds.

The film’s shooting is briskly going on in Mysuru.
