Chandan Shetty is living up to the title Kannada Rap King, given to him by the students of Siddhartha College, Tumakuru, a month ago. The singer, composer and music director, who has been appreciated for his first single music video Halagode has now come with another single called 3Peg, to be launched today. A rap song, this happens to be the first Kannada EDM (Electronic Dance Music) video and sees actress Aindrita Ray with Chandan.
The music director has written the lyrics – Moore pegige, thale gira gira gira endide – and has also composed, lent his voice, directed and worked on the art work. He took charge of the whole concept for 3Peg.
Chandan has a reason for this single music video. "One day, I was at a party in Bengaluru, where the DJ refused to play even a single Kannada song. In his defence, he said that they only play EDM genre. That's when it hit me. I wanted to give them a song in their style, which they will not refuse. This is created in 128 tempo, which will mostly played a discotheques," he says.
Apparently Aindrita, who had appreciated Chandan's Halagode, worked for 3Peg video, free of cost. "The actress had appreciated my work in my first single and had told that she will support me in my upcoming videos. I approached her when I started with 3Peg and she happily agreed to do it. I am confident that this song will be played not just in Bengaluru but across the globe. I have already done a quick poll among 100 known people and they have all given a thumbs up," he says.
Chandan, who has made rap popular in Kannada film music, has written two songs for Nikhil Kumar's Jaguar and a rap for Mungaru Male 2, among other films.
