Not long ago, producer Umapathy had announced that his next film with Sudeep will be Kempegowda 2. He had said that he is happy to be working with his brother after Hebbuli. But, it looks like it has not gone well with producer Shankare Gowda, who had worked with Sudeep’s in Kempegowda.

Apparently, the producer, who was keen on working on a sequel,  had registered the title Kempegowda 2 in his name. Shankare had hoped to do a series.

Though we are not sure why the producer and the actor have fallen out, we know that Shankare Gowda has refused to part with the title and is now making a film with the same title with another actor. He will make the official announcement of this on April 14.

Producer Umapathy, who had a foreseen Shankare Gowda’s intent to register the title, went ahead and registered the title Hebbuli 2 under his name. He confirms this development with City Express. “There is no point in making a mountain of a molehill,” he says.

“When I got a hint that I may not get Kempegowda 2, I made a quick decision to register another title, which is now to be the sequel of Hebbuli... I don’t think a movie runs on the title alone and that the script is important too. We want our work to do the talk.”

Kempegowda was a remake of Tamil film Singham. However, in case of Hebbuli 2, Umapathy says that it won’t be around a regular subject. More interestingly, he says that this will be directed by Sudeep. “Though I can confirm that we will be working together, it is too early to give out more details,” he says. “Right now the actor is busy with The Villain and he has lined up another couple of projects. So it all depends on when he want to take it up, and start working on the script.”
