For South Indian actor Sharathkumar, ‘Rajkumar means Karnataka and Karnataka means Rajkumar’, which he stated at the audio release of the Puneeth Rajkumar-starrer Raajakumara on Monday. In the actor’s fourth film in Sandalwood and the first with Puneeth, he plays father to the star in Raajakumara.
Sharath Kumar said, “With a title like Raajakumara, there are bound to be expectations. And from whatever I know about the film, Annavru’s qualities are very much present in the film directed by Santhosh Ananddram... it has depth, emotions and values. Moreover, I saw Annavru in Puneeth, in Raajkumara. I am sure that if Annavru had acted in this, he would have had the same dialogues.”
Sharath, who started with Darshan-starrer Sarathy, worked in Mynaa directed by Nagasekhar and with Shivarajkumar in Kabira. “In Raajakumara, I have an interesting and challenging role... I thouroughly enjoyed working in the movie. I have done around 140 films and have seen so many directors and Santhosh Ananddram comes across as a good director,” he said.
Puneeth thanked Sharathkumar for being part of Raajakumara, and playing his father’s role. “It is an honour. Though he comes with a lot of experience, he behaved like a friend on the sets. I only ask him to bless me with his kind of health,” he said.
