Why bharjari  is worth the wait

Actor Dhruva Sarja and director Chethan tell City Express that they are willing to stand by producer Srinivas despite the long delay

Dhruva Sarja’s third film Bharjari has been  in the making for the last 20 months. The film’s muhurath was held  in June 2015.

In fact, over the last one month, there have been speculations and nasty comments on social media over the delay, but actor Dhruva and director Chethan Kumar say that they were not in a position to shoot out replies.
Now that Bharjari is all set for dubbing, the actor and director talk about the long-pending project. They say that they have left it to producer Srinivas, who is making Bharjari under RS Productions.

“People by now have assumed that I am not approachable,” says actor Dhruva, “But if they look at it from my point of view, I don’t have anything substantial to say about the film’s release. However, I can guarantee that whenever Bharjari is out in theatres, it will definitely make an impact. I am saying this after having seen the rushes of the film.”

After having delivered two back-to-back blockbusters with Addhuri and Bahaddhur, Dhruva’s long absence before his third is raising questions among his fans. But the actor says that he is ready to face the consequences and stand by the producer. He explains why:  “Firstly, I was not offered readymade projects when I started out in this industry, despite my family’s background. Even for Addhuri I went through auditions and after that, the makers came to know that I am from the Sarja family. When my second film Bahaddhur had stalled, I remember knocking at every producer’s door and requesting for help. No one came forward to complete the film, except Srinivas and Srikanth.  (Srikanth was with RS Productions when Bahaddhur happened).”

Dhruva says, “If not for these two, the film wouldn’t have ever been released and I wouldn’t have had a second hit. So it is payback time for me now. It is not easy but I will wait patiently for Bharjari to be completed, though others may consider it stupidity on my part.”
The actor adds that, finally, the producer is back in charge. “We are now in the post-production stage and are left only with songs shoot.”

Meanwhile, the actor is getting ready for his next with Nanda Kishore. “I have explained my situation to producer Srinivas and he has given me the go-ahead to start my next film,” says the actor.
“Even my director Chethan feels that I should not wait. Meanwhile, the script is ready and it is now just a matter of going on the floors.”

Director Reasons
Rumours have it that Srinivas suffered a big loss with the distribution of a few Telugu films and Kannada films produced by him did not do as well as expected. So Bharjari is facing the brunt. But Chethan does not comment on the producer’s troubles except that he is in a “tight situation.”

“I am a director and cannot invest in the film,” he says. “Moreover, just as the actor and director are attached to the project, the producer is too. In spite of all the troubles he is facing, and even though he has a choice of selling the film, Srinivas is not ready to give up. We understand his commitment towards our project and therefore we are willing to go at his pace. Also, Srinivas is not new to the industry and he  knows best.”
“This is my second and the actor’s third project,” says the director. “We had to sacrifice a few other projects, working day in and out for Bharjari alone. I guess it is a part and parcel of being in the industry.”
