Akhaada, which stars Vasanth Vishnu in the lead, has been in the making for the last three-and-a-half years. A bilingual, directed by Shiva Ganesh of Jigarthanda fame, is being made in Kannada and Tamil with actor Vijay Sethupathi.

The now-famous actor had signed on the film much before he attained stardom.

The film, which got its censor certificate, has started its first promotion. The lead hero, who shared stills from the film, tells CE, "The shooting got stalled in between, and we also had to reshoot parts of the film with a new cast, because we couldn't get the dates from the original cast. Vijay first came on board when he was doing Sethupathi. He had even completed shooting his portions."

Akhaada, titled as Edaku in Tamil, is based on a true incident and will see Vijay Sethupathi playing a negative role. "The bilingual will mark my debut in Kannada and Tamil," says Vasanth, adding, "In spite of a digital platform, this film was shot with negative rolls. They wanted to bring in the period when social media was not in existence," he says.

The makers are now looking forward to the Kannada release sometime in August. "We will then follow it with the Tamil release," he tells us.

The film has Nayana playing the female lead and Avinash among others in the cast. The film's music score is by Dharma Prakash, cinematography by Shaman Mithru, and stunts by Thavasi Raj.
