KOCHI: Director Shaji Kailas is going to start the shooting of his next movie ‘Naduvazhikal 2’, which is a sequel of the 1989 hit movie ‘Naduvazhikal’. The movie will star Prithviraj in the lead role, which was originally played by megastar Mohanlal, two decades back.
The pooja of the movie was performed at Mascot Hotel in Trivandrum a couple of days ago. S Chandrakumar of Malavika Productions is producing the movie.
The original movie was directed by Joshi, and became a landmark in the career of Mohanlal. S.N Swamy had penned the script. The original movie also starred Madhu and Manianpilla Raju.
Prithviraj has been renowned as a serious action hero. But in this movie, the star will have to do some lighter sequences and romantic scenes. This is his first film with Shaji Kailas.
The first movie revolved around Arjun, played by Mohanlal, whose father was a very powerful man in the village. According to the director, the second part of ‘Naduvazhikal’ is going to be an action-packed thriller movie, which will have comedy and romance interspersed with peppy songs.
