KOCHI: Meera Nandan may not be too visible in Kollywood being just two films old (‘Valmiki’ and ‘Ayyanar’), but the chirpy actor is going big in Tollywood with her debut movie, ‘Jai Bolo Telangana’.

Meera Nandan is very excited and says the film crew is in a ‘festive mood’. “The response is overwhelming and we are all enjoying the success,” exults Meera.

“When the film director, N Shankar, narrated the script to me some five months ago, I had to say no, because of my tight schedule. But after a few months, the director approached me again and now I’m so happy that I’m part of the successful project,” grins the actor.

As the title suggests, the film is set against the backdrop of the Telangana movement, about the people in the region and their struggle for a separate state. “The director was very supportive and gave me full freedom. He encouraged the actors who gave suggestions and that increased my confidence level to score well,” says the actress.

Her character in the film is very soft and sensitive. But in the second half, she changes. She stands for the struggle and becomes bolder. “The movie also has a romantic angle interwoven with the struggle,” reveals the actress.

Meera started her career as a host of the Star Singer show on Asianet when director Lal Jose was searching for a heroine for his 'Mulla'. “He spotted me on the show and gave me a bigger platform. And it’s because of him that I’m here now as heroine,” says Meera, who is at present busy with two Malayalam projects.

Be it Malayalam, Telugu or Tamil, the actor wants her work to be noticed. “I’ve never thought about the competition in the industry. Among the scripts I hear, I choose the best one and give my best shot,” says the actress.
