Veteran actor Thilakan, who was ousted from the regional actors’ association for indiscipline last year, is all set to return to mainstream Malayalam cinema. Directed by Renjith, Thilakan, who is undergoing rejuvenation ayurveda therapy at a hospital here, signed the film and the shooting will begin on July 5.
“You can call it my return to mainstream films, but as far as I’m concerned, this is no return as I have always been in the minds of film buffs,” said Thilakan.
In 2010 April, Thilakan was booted out of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) after he called the body a mafia and said it does not care for the interests of the artistes.
The actor refused to apologise and was relegated to doing offbeat films.
“They can only oust me from their body, they cannot oust me from the minds of my fans and well-wishers,” said Thilakan.
