Two years after the theatrical release of ‘Happy Husbands’, a case has been filed against the makers of the movie accusing them of copying the Bollywood flick ‘No Entry’. But the director Saji Surendran says, “We have given due credits to the Tamil film, ‘Charlie Chaplin’ released in 2002 from which we have originally drawn inspiration and the advocate who has filed the case should watch the movie, for once.”
Saji who is busy with the shoot of ‘Husbands in Goa’ adds, “Milan Jaleel, the producer of ‘Happy Husbands’, has bought the copyright from the producers of ‘Charlie Chaplin’ two years before we took the movie. Later we discussed about the screenplay of the film, which we felt has the potential to be adapted into Malayalam. We have heard that some Hindi and Telugu producers too had bought the credit. The advocate, who is from Thiruvananthapuram, must have done this to get some cheap publicity.”
Producer Milan Jaleel, director Saji Surendran, scenarist Krishna Poojappura, and actors of the film are among others who have been accused of copying the Bollywood film.
