After a gap of 23 years, the hit-making trio of Joshiy-Mohanlal-S N Swamy unites for ‘Lokpal’, the suspense thriller which is set to hit screens this month. Though Joshiy and Mohanlal had got together for many ventures, including the latest money minter ‘Run Baby Run’, it is for the first time that the trio comes together post ‘Naduvazhikal’.
S N Swamy, who penned the thriller, says Mohanlal plays Nandagopal, a restaurant owner who is also a social activist under disguise. “Nandagopal is a sharp and dexterous social activist. His work is an individual activity against anti-social elements. He lays intelligent traps for people who seek bribe. Basically, the movie is a cop and thief game,” says Swami.
Apart from Mohanlal, the movie also has Saikumar and Manoj K Jayan playing police officers. “All the characters in the movie are notable ones. The female lead is Kavya Madhavan who plays Manoj K Jayan’s wife,” says Swamy. Swamy, whose last venture was ‘August 15’ in 2011, says ‘Lokpal’ will be a mass entertainer.
“Though the movie is titled ‘Lokpal’, it is not a political drama. The main thread of the film is fight against corruption. I am optimistic about the movie. It will appeal to the masses. However, Mohanlal’s character is not a he-man modelled one. I’m sure all the characters in the movie will be noticed,” he adds. The movie will also see Mohanlal in six get-ups in a mission to fight injustice and corruption.
Meera Nandan, T G Ravi, Shammy Thilakan, Thalaivasal Vijay and Tamil actor Thambi Ramaiah will also play prominent roles in the movie. Lokpal is produced by S L Vimal Kumar, Balan Vijayan and M Vijayakumar under the banner of Happy & Ruby Cinemas.
The soundtrack will be composed by Ratheesh Vega and the lyrics penned by Rafeeq Ahammed.
The camera will be cranked by Pradeep Nair and Syam Sasidharan is the editor.
