Twin treat for movie lovers this weekend

Mumbai Police and Hotel California, two much anticipated flicks of recent times, will hit the screens Friday.

Movie-goers will have a double delight this weekend with two of the much anticipated flicks hitting the screen. Up for release today are Rosshan Andrrews’ action-packed cop story Mumbai Police and Aji John’s Hotel California, a fun-filled thriller. The highlight of ‘Hotel California’ is the script penned by Anoop Menon and the hit combo on Jayasurya-Anoop Menon playing the lead. The film, announced last year as Pushpakavimanam following the duo’s runaway success Beautiful, was renamed Hotel California after the famous Eagles song of the 70s. Mariya Roy, Aparna Nair and Dhwani play the female leads in the film. The film also marks Mariya’s return to screen after Notebook. Saiju Kurup, Sudhish Shankar, Nandhu, Jojo, Chali Pala, Kavitha Nair and Kani Kusruti are also part of the cast. The plot revolves around a flight journey from Dubai via Mumbai to Kochi. The film unravels how the life of the five passengers, five absolute strangers crisscross at a certain point. While Jayasurya appears on screen as Airport Jibby, Anoop Menon plays the role of superstar Prem Sagar. Jithu Dhamodhar cranks the camera for the film shot in and around Dubai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kochi. Shaan Rahman has scored the music to the lyrics penned by Anoop Menon. Hotel California is produced by Josemon Simon under the banner of Jairaj Productions. Rosshan Andrrews’ Mumbai Police, starring Prithviraj, Jayasurya and Rahman in the lead, is a high octane suspense thriller. The film portrays the life and friendship of three cops - City Police Commissioner Faran Aman (Rahman), Mattancherry Assistant Commissioner Aryan John Jacob (Jayasurya), and Ernakulam Assistant Commissioner Antony Moses (Prithviraj). The three officers dubbed by the media as Mumbai Police are known for their efficiency and fearlessness. The film zooms into their personal and professional life unfolding the events that leads to an event that changes their lives. Mumbai and Kochi are the major locations of the film. The film, which boasts of stylist shots and topnotch technology, has its script penned by the hit scenarist duo Bobby-Sanjay. Other than the three actors, Kunjan, Aparna Nair, Hima Davis and Shweta Menon also appear in important roles. G Diwakar has handled the camera. Gopi Sunder has scored the music while Santhosh Varma is the lyricist.
