Love and relationships are a never-ending saga that allures audience and filmmakers alike. And narrating a subtle tale of a happy-go-lucky couple Sachidanandan and Shyama is director Sugeeth’s upcoming flick Onnum Mindathe. The film which is a family drama promises to be entertaining and deals with a socially relevant subject. “It is 100 per cent family oriented movie which narrates a simple story,” says Sugeeth.
The story unfurls in the picturesque land of Aryapadam, Thrissur. Sachidanandan, an agricultural officer in the village leads a happy life with his wife and daughter. Sachidananadan, fondly called Sachi, is a true-blood villager who loves living in sync with nature and farming. Jayaram dons the role of Sachi, while Meera Jasmine essays the role of Shyama. “They share a very strong and emotional relationship. They are happy in their own life and have simple dreams that any middle class family has,” says the director about his third outing.
With the return of Sachi’s childhood buddy Jose, Sachi’s life peps up and becomes more exciting and vibrant. “Jose and Sachi are old friends. After their studies, Jose settles abroad and it is after eight or nine years that he is returning to Kerala to relive and relinquish the good old days with his friend,” explains Sugeeth. Manoj K Jayan dons the role of Jose. He plays a pivotal role in Sachi’s life. Sachi is thrilled with his friend’s two week visit as it is the time for both of them to reminisce the fun-filled childhood days. The jolly reunion of these two friends takes a U-turn and enters an alternate course which comes as an unexpected twist in the film. “It is an incident that is very relevant in our present day society. This incident even distorts Sachi’s family life,” says Sugeeth. The rest of the movie deals how both husband and wife tackle the issue and how they both delve into the core reason for its occurrence.
Ask the director about his experience working with Jayaram and Meera Jasmine, he says, “It is for the first time I am working with the actor and it was easy. He is an actor known for his work in many family-oriented films. And with Meera Jasmine I have worked earlier, while assisting (director) Kamal sir.”
The film has three songs composed by Anil Johnson and interestingly Manoj K Jayan has crooned a song with Madhu Balakrishnan in the film. The song ‘Tha thaka thaka...’ has already gone viral online. The lyrics are penned by V R Santhosh. “Jayaram has also sung a track in the film,” adds Sugeeth.
The story of Onnum Mindathe is penned by Rajesh Raghavan, who had earlier scripted Sugeeth’s 3 Dots. The film is produced by Shafeer Sait under the banner of Qurban Films and will hit the screens on March 28.
