‘Valliyum Thetti, Pulliyum Thetti’, the title may sound a bit quirky but debutant director Rishi Sivakumar is least apprehensive. He says the unusual title echoes the fun ride that the movie is. The movie, a collaboration of a few young minds, will have Kunchako Boban playing the lead role.

“’Valliyum Thetti, Pulliyum Thetti’ is a romantic drama, or to be more specific it is a retro-modern classic. There is 50 per cent reality and 50 per cent exaggeration. But overall, it will be a total fun ride,” says Rishi.

The movie, set in the milieu of 90s, traces the happenings in a village. “Actually, a period from 1960s to 1990 is portrayed here. That’s why it will have a retro feel,” says the director.

‘Valliyum Thetti, Pulliyum Thetti’ revolves around a village and a temple there. The peaceful life of the village goes for a toss over regarding issues that arises during a temple festival. These unexpected turn of events and how they affect the life of a youth forms the crux of the story.

According to the makers, the movie uses a powerful medium of satire. “We aim to portray how the life of villagers underwent a change due to modernisation,” says Rishi, who has worked as assistant choreographer for the last few years.

On casting Kunchako Boban, Rishi says the movie will portray Kunchako Boban in a more youthful avatar. “He is super excited about the project and has shed over six kilos for the role. Besides, one can see the actor in two  different looks in the film,” says Rishi.

Besides Kunchacko Boban, Manoj K Jayan, Aju Varghese, Renji Panikker and Suresh Krishna will play prominent roles in the movie. “We are on a hunt for the female lead. We are looking out for fresh faces. The lead lady will have a retro look,” says the director. The film will go on the floors by July last at Mannarkad, Agali and Attappadi. The movie is being produced by Faisal Lateef. “Valliyum Thetti, Pulliyum Thetti’ is a simple tale and will portray Kunchacko Boban in a character whom people can relate well,” says the producer.
