THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Honey Rose is having a dream run; her latest ‘You Too Brutus’ is garnering good response, a packed schedule and a lead role against Mohanlal in the offing. Timing couldn’t be better for the beautiful and sensuous Honey.

She doesn’t hide her happiness over the good run of ‘You Too Brutus’.

“I went to watch the movie at PVR in Lulu. People were enjoying it. The movie is a brisk comedy, a light-hearted entertainer. I have been receiving calls from many saying they enjoyed the movie and my performance,” says Honey Rose.

Honey plays Shirley, an aspiring singer and model, who falls in love with a much-married Abhi, played by Asif Ali. The role may be a repetition of what she had played before, but Honey says she took it up because she really loved it.

“I don’t really see any stereotyping and if there is, I am not worried of it. Shirley was someone I could relate to. But, my future projects are very different. While I play a doctor in ‘My God’ directed by M Mohanan, my role in ‘Kumbasaram’ is of another league. It is a broody and deep one. In ‘Sir CP’, I play a PRO working in a college run by Jayaram,” says Honey who will break free, though unintentionally, from the mould she has fallen into.

Is the ‘older’ roles and senior co-stars changing her image? “My pairing with senior actors (Jayaram in ‘Sir CP’, Mohanlal in an upcoming project and Suresh Gopi in ‘My God’) happened by chance. I never take a role looking into who is paired opposite me and my look. All I check is whether I have anything to do in the movie and whether the role makes me a better actor. Moreover, it is fun to play characters elder than me. It boosts my confidence that these directors think that I can enact characters that are more complex like a writer and a very committed doctor,” says Honey.

She adds that none of the senior actors, be it Mammootty, Mohanlal, Jayaram or Suresh Gopi, makes her feel intimidated. “They adapt to the working style of anybody, that’s what makes them superstars. It’s not for nothing that people see them as evergreen heroes,” she adds.

Honey who debuted through the film ‘Boyfriend’, was noted for her role in ‘Trivandrum Lodge. Ask her about her second coming, she says, “Actually, when I started my career in ‘Boyfriend’, I had no idea how the industry will receive me. All I had was a mind to work hard but I didnt expect anything. ‘Trivandum Lodge’ catapulted me to mainstream and even in my future projects, all I can do is work hard. I believe the result will come to you,” says Honey.

And, how about other-languages? “During the initial stages of my career, I had done a few other-language movies in Kannada and Tamil, but now I am looking for meaty roles. A lot of offers are pouring in, but I am waiting for the right one,” says Honey.
