A Film For Green

A Film For Green

His films have always been known for its unusual and quirky titles and interesting subjects. National Award-winning director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon’s third outing Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi, (LL7K) is no different.

With an intriguing title like his previous films - North 24 Katham and Sapthamashree Thaskaraha, LL7K will be a movie with a message on environment.

“I always try to come up with films that are unusual and I think I should  create an interest in them right from the title. Here, Kandi is an old usage for measuring a piece of land, where 1 Kandi is equal to 25 hectares/50 acres,” says Anil Radhakrishnan.

LL7K traverses through the life of eight key characters who come together for a common cause. “LL7K will shed light on environment conservation. We show no consideration cutting down the rich forest reserve and the film discusses how  nature retaliates. The characters are all ordinary people but they have an extraordinary skill. It is not a treasure hunt, edge-of-the seat film but the protagonists are on a mission to save Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi and through it, an undiscovered civilisation,” says the director. Kunchacko Boban plays Philipose John Varkey, a young nature enthusiast who thrills at leading the life of an ultimate survivor in the wild. “His character was inspired from the TV series like Man, Woman, Wild and Survivor reality show,” says Anil, who has penned the story.

Nedumudi Venu plays C K A K Menon, a retired defense secretary and a tough person to manage while Reenu Mathews essays the role of Madhumita Krishnan, a gun tester working with defense lab.

Sunny Wayne as Bheeran, a street magician, Jacob Gregory as Ananthakrishnan Iyer, a chemical engineer, Chemban Vinod portraying the role of Professor Neelakanthan, Sudheer Karamana as Malavedan, a strong, witty and brash character and the only person who knows the way to 7000 Kandi, and Bharath as Shanmughan Ilangovan, an adventure lover, are the other prominent characters.

LL7K will be a technically brilliant and visually alluring outing from Anil Radhakrishnan. Jayesh Nair cranks the camera while Jothish Shankar had aesthetically erected the sets in LL7K. “The major part of the film is shot in the forests irrespective of the harsh climatic and other dangerous conditions. Jothish had a key role in making the film appealing,” he adds. Editing is by Manoj Kannoth and Stephy has handled the costume. M R Rajakrishnan and Sushin Shyam have done the sound designing. Rex Vijayan has composed the music. The film, produced by Prem Menon, will hit the screens on October 16.
