A trip to space is mostly an unfulfilled dream for most. But, imagine watching your most-anticipated film’s trailer and the miniature of its characters walking in the space. Award-winning director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon is set to launch the trailer of his upcoming movie Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi, (LL7K), in space.

“The trailer will be launched on September 30 at Munnar. Even I am looking forward to it,” says Anil Radhakrishnan.

The first-of-its-kind experimental venture, the makers of the film will  release the trailer in space with the help of a space balloon. The team will  send out a device fixed with a Go-Pro camera into space from Munnar as part of announcing the trailer release.

“This kind of trailer launch will be first time in India. Though it is tried and tested in United Kingdom and London, we haven’t explored the possibilities here because of our country’s aviation rules,” says Vivek Thomas Varghese, executive producer, Global United Media.

The film produced by Prem Menon is Global United Media’s maiden venture in Malayalam.

Talking more about the technical side, Vivek explains, “This is an experimental initiative and is done by the students of CUSAT. Usually, they  send weather balloons to space for their academic needs. The trailer launch will be done in a similar space balloon which will have a small LED scraeen, company’s logo and the miniature models of characters.”  The space balloon will cross the stratosphere and the cameras attached to it will capture earth.

The teasers which was launched last week show the eight key characters gazing bewildered at the sky.

“We wanted to bring that element in our launch and hence the idea of releasing the trailer in space materialised. We want everybody to look up like in the motion poster, an integral scene in the film and once the parachute lands back people can participate in the search for the LL7k stone in it,” says Vivek.

“The person who gets the basket will get `50,000 as cash price and a chance to act in Global United Media’s next film,” he adds.

The film has no protagonist or antagonist.  Kunchacko Boban, Reenu Mathews, Sunny Wayne, Nedumudi Venu, Chemban Vinod, Sudheer Karamana, Jacob Gregory and Bharat Niwas come in prominent roles. The film revolves around their journey through a jungle.

The producers have got clearances from all departments including Aviation authorities for the event. The launch is all set for September 30, from Munnar at 8 am. “The balloon will be there in space for three hours and will burst out and the launchpad will fall back in 70-km diameter radius,” he says.
