A New Innings

He has always dreamt of making it big in the film world and when the offer to play a king in fantasy drama ‘Ithihasa’, a sleeper hit, fell on his lap, Sattya didn’t think twice about taking it because the “script was very convincing”.

“One of my friend introduced me to the director, Binu. I auditioned for it, and when he asked me whether I could play the character, though it didn’t have much screen time, I agreed immediately,” says Sattya.

Sattya will also reprise the role in the Tamil remake of the movie by the same director. “I might also have a role in the team’s next movie,” adds Sattya.

He played two characters in the movie that deals with two periods, as a king in the first half and as a youth who comes searching for the ring in the second part.

Hailing from Palakkad, Sattya had tried to find a foothold in the Tamil industry for the last six years, before he could do a role in Suseendran’s “Naan Mahan Allai’ alongside Karthi.

“Besides, I have been doing many short films for Kalainjar TV. We are a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers based in Chennai. And, we hope to make a movie by the end of 2015,” says the actor.

Sattya will also be seen in debutant Janan Jacob’s new movie which will go on floor this year.

‘Ithihasa’s good show at the box office has been an encouragement, says Sattya. “The movie did a great deal for people like me, who are struggling to find a foothold in the industry. Post the movie, people in the industry recognise me which is a honour,” says the actor.
