Game shows, when catered in the right format, can draw huge ratings. Always popular with the audience, they appeal to their dream of getting on TV and winning big money. Sell Me the Answer came with a fresh formula blending fun and info and the popular game show on Asianet is moving to season 2 from today. “Unlike other shows we don’t provide four or five options to choose from. The highlight of Sell Me the Answer is the presence of nearly 40 traders. They are supposed to know the answers and the contestant can buy the answers from them,” says producer M R Rajan.
The concept of the show is unique and different from the previous quiz-based shows as it gives opportunity for both the contestants and the traders to win the prize money, with their knowledge as well as confidence. “Sell Me the Answer is basically a British game show. It’s not a dry and rigid programme, but an entertainment-oriented show that can keep the audience hooked. The mood is more playful, not serious like KBC or any others,” he says.
Mukesh, who hosted the programme in the first season, will continuing his role in the new season as well. “One reason to rope in Mukesh is that the show required a flexible host who can be both the quiz master and an entertainer,” he adds. Sell me the answer demands the contestant to utilize both their IQ and EQ. As per the format there will be 10 questions and 10 answers. One can answer these questions with or without the help of traders.
Traders who appear in the show were handpicked from more than 25,000 applicants. “They were selected after written and video tests. The show will also feature a bevy of celebrity guests. Shweta Mohan will be the guest on the first episode,” adds Rajan. Sell Me the Answer Season 2 will be aired from Monday to Thursday between 9 pm and 10 pm.
