THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actors Jayasurya and Priyanka Nair bagged the award for best actor and actress at the eighth Vayalar Ramavarma Film and Television awards instituted by the Vayalar Ramavarma Samskarika Vedi. 'Su Su Sudhi Valmeekam' won the award for best movie while its director Ranjith Sankar has been adjudged the best director. T P Sasthamangalam has been awarded Vayalar Ramavarma award for his book 'Kavyageethika'.
Priyanka Nair got the award for performance in 'Jalam'. C V Premkumar has become the best debutant director for 'Aalroopanagal'. Indrans has been awarded second best actor for his performance in 'Ameoba' while Lena has been adjudged as the second best actress for her performance in 'Ennu Ninte Moideen' and 'Iyobinte Pusthakam'.
The actors bagged the award for best actor and actress at the eighth Vayalar Ramavarma Film and Television awards.

Rajesh Murukeshan has been selected as the best music director for his songs in 'Premam' while Rafiq Ahammed has been selected as the best lyricist for his song 'kathirunnu kathirunnu' of Ennu Ninte Moideen. Parvathy Ratheesh (Madhura Naranga) and Shabareesh Varma (Premam) were termed the best debutant actors. Kochupreman has bagged the award for best actor in a comic role. Najim Arshad and Madhushree Narayan bagged the award for best singers. Pattanam Rasheed won the award for best makeup artist for the film Pathemari. Artist Suresh bagged a special award for his performance in 'Action Hero Biju'.
The committee has selected Kaviyoor Ponnamma for Vayalar Chalachitra Ratna Puraskar, Nedumudi Venu for Vayalar Kalashreshta Puraskar, violinist Balabhaskar for Vayalar Yuvasangeeta Prathibha Puraskar and Neerav Bavlecha for Vayalar Yuvapratibha Puraskar in dance.
The awards will be given away to the artists at a ten day cultural fiesta at Putharikandom maidan which will begin from July 16. The award for the best film, actor, actress, director, music director, singers carries a purse of Rs 11,000, and a citation. National award winners M Jayachandran and Aliyar will be felicitated at the event.
The jury chaired by Sreekumaran Thambi and comprising of Poovachal Khader, M R Thampan, K Chandrika, Balu Kiriyath, Somasekharan Nair, Vayalar Madhavankutty, Sabeer Thirumala selected the awardees.
