Vineeth Sreenivasan, the multifaceted talent who excels as singer, actor, lyricist, writer and director, is one artist who made a mark in 2015, whether it be sheer luck, lineage, determination or meticulous planning.
Vineeth had three films, Oru Second Class Yathra, Oru Vadakkan Selfie and Kunjiramayanam to his credit as an actor and all of them were hits. He wrote Oru Vadakkan Selfie, its lyrics and played a pivotal role. He also sang two songs ‘Chennai Pattanam’ and ‘Enne Thallendammaava’ which he also wrote. The songs went on to top the charts.
In Premam, the biggest hit of the year, Vineeth was the voice which heralded the movie. The song ‘Aluvapuzhayude’ which he crooned played the pied piper as it lured millions to the halls. His sync with the voice of the hero Nivin Pauly added much to the success of the song written by Sabareesh Varma and tuned by Rajesh Murugesan.
Oru Second Class Yatra was a surprise as it was a small film with simple story line.
Audience chose to stay with the life of Nandu, the innocent boy played by Vineeth and the melody ‘Ambazham Thanalitta’ was a hit.
Kunjiramayanam, which essayed the life of Kunjiraman, in a simple style, could hit the target during Onam days, when a big budget multi starrer Double Barrel tanked miserably. The film was his first outing together with his brother Dhyan.
Incidentally, he was the pillar of the projects as the directors were newbies. All of them - Jexson Antony and Rejis Antony, G Prajith and Basil Joseph - had attributed ‘Vineeth factor’ for turning their first film into a reality.Vineeth, a former winner of Mappilappattu in state school fest, was at home with the song ‘Aa oruthi aval oruthi’ a masterpiece of a Mappilappattu singer in the film Anarkali.
The ‘star’ will be back in 2016 with Jacobinte Swargarajyam which he is busy filming in Dubai with the star he introduced, Nivin Pauly.
