Sanal Aman on a Roll

The actor who debuted in Unto the Dusk has a number of projects in his kitty

After playing the unconventional and complex unnamed protagonist in  Unto the Dusk that won accolades at major film festivals, Sanal Aman plans to get more active in cinema. Thanks to his debut performance, the actor already has a number of offers in his kitty.

Sanal will next be seen as a taxi driver convicted of rape and murder in multi-lingual movie Eli Eli Sabachthani? directed by Jiju Antony.

A National School of Drama graduate, Sanal will also feature as one of the  principal characters in National Award-winning director Pradeep Nair’s  upcoming film Udal. A commercial outing is also on the cards with Sanal signing Rosappookalam  by Anil K Nair.

“The offers themselves are a response to my character in Unto the Dusk.   Apart from Rosapookalam, the shooting of which began before Unto the  Dusk, all other offers came post my debut and there were no auditions,” says Sanal.

He adds that while the shoot of Eli Eli Lama Sabachthani? is almost over,  that of Udal is yet to begin. But, both the ventures will see him in   unconventional roles.

“I play Prashant in Eli Eli Lama Sabachthani and in Udal, I play a character who falls for his friends wife,” he says.

But, is it a conscious decision to chose such characters? “Every character   has something for me to perform but I never consciously opted for any    particular roles. They just came to me,” says Sanal.

Sanal is all words when quizzed about his next venture Eli Eli Lama Sabachthani.

“A retrogressive narration the convict’s life, Eli Eli Lama Sabachthani? is the view point of the accused and looks at how he turns into a criminal. Set in Mumbai, the shooting was quite exciting as it employed guerilla techniques by shooting in real locations. It will be produced in Marathi, English and Hindi,” he says.

The movie stars Rajasree Deshpande and Kani Kusruthi as well.
