After 'Jacobinte Swargarajyam', Sreenath Bhasi on the Roll With Projects Lined Up

Sreenath Bhasi is definitely on a roll. The young actor, who was seen recently in the family hit flick, Jacobinte Swargarajyam, where he essayed the role of a defiant yet quirky son to perfection, has a number of projects lined up in his kitty. Apart from releasing a solo album in the upcoming weeks, he will be spotted next in debutante Khalid Rahman’s movie ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ which will hit the theatres next month. Bhasi, says he is ecstatic over people’s response to his character Abin in Jacobinte Swargarajyam. “It was different this time. I have played similar roles in my previous movies, like an angry son and a younger brother, but playing Abin, the rebellious son, who, but cares deeply for his family, was different. I am grateful to Vineeth Sreenivasan (director of the movie) for making me part of this wonderful movie,” says Bhasi.

The singer-actor who hates being stereotyped, says he finds it difficult to brush off the image people have of him. “People assume that I am really the person they see in the films, like the easily rebellious youth who is wayward in his own way. I am not like that. In fact, I am more like Nivin (the more ardent son and brother),” he laughs and shares. “Also, playing Abin was easy because it reminded me a lot about my brother.”

Sreenath’s meeting with the real-life Abin, who is the younger son of Jacob, the NRI businessman who was the inspiration behind Vineeth Sreenivasan’s movie, was brief.

“I only got a chance to meet him once but the meeting gave me a good idea of how to play his character. There were some differences, which had to be incorporated, of course, to make the movie more spicy. Real-life Shirley, Jacob’s mother was really a sweet lady who prayed a lot for me before I began shooting for the film,” he adds.

‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’

Sreenath plays a Gujarati boy in the Biju Menon-Asif Alif starrer. He says he is quite excited about his role and believes the movie which centres on a father-son relationship will make the cut.

 The singer in him

Sreenath, whose voice has become quite a rage in the Malayalam industry, has also crooned two songs for Jacobinte Swargarajyam, where he sings ‘Ajeeb Dastaan Hai yeh’, and ‘Drive’, by Incubus.

He also plans to revive his hit college band ‘Crimson Wood’, which had disbanded after all the members went their different ways and took separate career paths.
