It had the right blend of talent, shimmer and drama. And now D3, perhaps the most-anticipated season of D 4 Dance, waltz back to screen. And to keep you glued to the new season comes a slew of highlights including a surprise host. “GP, who used to anchor the previous seasons, is not on board this time. Since he is busy anchoring another show we had to find a new face who will co-host season 3 with Pearle Maaney. But to know who he is you will have to wait till March 28. But I can ensure you one thing, he is one terrific host and he is going to rock the show,” says producer Yamuna.
The latest season also boasts of a mint-fresh format where competitions will be held in three categories - solo, group and pair. “For the first time in Indian television contestants will be vying for three different titles on a single show. Each episode will be divided into three sections,” she says. After auditions held in various Indian cities and Middle East over 350 contestants have made it to the show. “There were applicants from all parts of the globe and for the contestants from the US we held an online audition,”she says.
This time contestant line-up itself adds some extra edge to the show as it includes not just wannabes.
Jazz D’Souza, a Malayali transgender based in Mumbai, is part of the show along with a tea vendor and school dropout.
“We have representation from all parts of India and all sections of society. There are local groups who are not trained dancers but people driven by their love for dance. They are ordinary masons, painters and rag-pickers united by their passion for dance,” she says.
The popular trio of Prasanna Master, Priyamani and Neerav Bavlecha will be part of this season as well along with a string of celebrity guests.
“And this time previous title winners will step into the role of team leaders. This will make the show all the more vibrant,” Yamuna adds.
Mazhavil Manorama will start telecasting the third season of D 4 Dance from March 28. The show will be aired from Monday to Thursday 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
