A young man sits in front of an interview panel, imploring the members to consider him. He doesn’t get much of a positive response, just a ‘wait till 5 pm’ line. After a couple of retakes Adoor Gopalakrishnan okays the shot as the interviewee, Dileep in his white-shirt-grey-trousers costume, gets up. The veteran filmmaker was canning the first scene of ‘Pinneyum’, his upcoming film that also marks his return to the industry after a long hiatus of eight years.
‘Pinneyum’, starring Dileep and Kavya Madhavan in the lead, started rolling at the Institute of Management, Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. “This is a different story,in fact I try to create something different with each movie,” says the director. Though ‘Pinneyum’ has been touted as a love story, it will have no resemblance with the conventional romances, he added. “It is a movie to be experienced and not to be told,” says Adoor who is tight-lipped about the plot or premises.
The film, written ,directed and co-produced by the master himself, brings back on screen the popular pair of Dileep and Kavya. The actors were last seen together in ‘Vellaripravinte Changathi’, which hit the screens some five years back. “For me it’s a blessed moment. I have been longing to be part of an Adoor Gopalakrishnan film,” says an excited Dileep. For Kavya Madhavan it’s her second outing with the master filmmaker as she had earlier acted in ‘Nalu Penungal’.
Adoor is expecting to wrap up shooting by next month and the release details are yet to be announced. The film, co-produced by Baby Mathew Somatheeram, also stars Nedumudy Venu, Vijayaraghavan ,Indrans ,Sudheer Karamana, KPAC Lalitha, Subodh Bhave, Ravi Vallathol, Prof Aliyar and Srindha Arhaan in significant roles. M J Radhakrishnan will crank the camera for ‘Pinneyum’ while Harikumar will handle the sound. Editing is by B Ajith Kumar and Marthandam Rajashekaran is the art director.
