Mammootty was live on Wednesday on Facebook to express his happiness and gratitude towards the audience for the success of 'The Great Father'.

Mammootty's career had been dampened by a string of average grossers lately but with his avatar as David Ninan in the Hanif Adeni directorial had collected over Rs 20 crore in six days, beating the records created by Rajinikanth's 'Kabali' and Mohanlal's 'Pulimurugan' in Kerala, Mammootty seems to be back on track.

In the video, Mammootty is seen wearing a lungi and relaxing in a caravan. He is flanked by Arya and producer Shaji Nadeshan, who along with Prithviraj Sukumaran and Santhosh Sivan had produced the movie under 'August Cinemas'.

Nadeshan said that though the movie was made on a small budget, it has become one of the great successes of Mammootty's career. "We didint think it would become this big success", he added.

"Thank you audience for making this small film into a big success", said Mammootty

Arya talked about how everyone kept asking how was it working with Mammootty, since the general perception about the actor portray him as tough and arrogant. Hearing this Mammootty jokingly patted on Arya's shoulder.

"The reality is, Mammootty is such an easy guy to work and I learnt a lot from the veteran
actor", Arya added.

Shaji Nadeshan too asserted that it is a misconception people have about Mammootty.

Mammootty said that people do say "Mammootty is a tough character but in reality he is a sweet person"
is a sweet person in reality', but the image still never change.

Directed by Hanif Adeni, 'The Great Father' was made on a budget of Rs six crores and collected over 20 crores in just four days. The thriller-drama has Mammootty, Anikha, Arya, Sneha, and Shaam playing the main roles.

The film had raked in Rs 4.31 Crore on the first day, making it the highest first-day collection for a Malayalam movie.
