The wait for Tovino Thomas-starrer Godha to continue for one more week. Director Basil Joseph has decided to push the release of the movie to May 19 owing to unavailability of screens, courtesy the Baahubali effect.
Director Basil Joseph told City Express that he wanted a wider reach for Godha. “The audio format of Godha is Dolby Atmos and there are only 22 screens equipped with this in Kerala, including multiplexes. All of them are screening Baabubali at the moment. So, we had no other way than to push the release of the movie,” says Basil.
He adds: “Godha may not be as big as Baahubali but even it needs to be viewed and enjoyed in the required technical environment. Then, almost all screens in cities and suburbs are playing Baabhubali at the moment. This week, only 60 screens will be available for release but for May 19, there are almost 100. So, we thought it is better to wait,” he added.
Basil also thinks that since Baahubali is a non-avoidable watch, pushing it for another week will help families with their budget. “A family of four or five members will get a relief if its pushed,” he added.
Godha has also Wamiqa Gabbi and Renji Panicker in prominent roles. The trailer and songs of the movie have already gone viral on social media.
