Dileep has been in jail since July in connection with the kidnapping and assault of a prominent Malayalam actress. His film, 'Ramaleela' has been in the cans for some time due to the controversy and has finally got a release date.

The film industry and the public have been divided in the Dileep case. While many stars like Jayaram and directors like Joshiy and Lal Jose had visited him at the jail, many others are vocal against the actor. Many in the social media have taken up the hashtag #BoycottRamaleela to protest against the release of
the film.

The campaign had earlier made the producer of the film, Tomichan Mulakuppadam to approach the Kerala High court seeking protection for the movie's release. He had filed a complaint with the Ernakulam Range IG against the boycott calls made by GP Ramachandran.

Dileep has been in jail since July when the police had arrested him for allegedly conspiring the kidnapping and assault of a prominent Malayalam actress.

Directed by Arun Gopy and bankrolled by Tomichan Mulakuppadom, Ramaleela is a thriller drama starring Dileep and Prayaga Martin in the lead.
