It is a festival time for cinemas this week with three major movies hitting the screens. With a long weekend in the offing (Navarathri holidays falling on Friday and Saturday), the industry hopes to make up for the lull caused by the poor performance of Onam releases and Dileep's arrest.

After causing much uproar, Ramaleela will finally hit the screens today. The movie's release was met with controversies after a section of people exhorting to boycott the movie following its lead actor's alleged involvement in the actor assault case.

Reports have it that the entire industry has rallied behind Ramaleela's producer Tomichan Mulakupadam to bring the movie to the theatres. It also marks the comeback of Radhika Sarathkumar, who plays Dileep's mother in the movie.

Prayaga and Vijayaraghavan also play important characters.

Giving Ramaleela a tough fight will be Manju Warrier's Udhaharanam Sujatha, that has Manju in a de-glam role. The songs and trailer of the movie, that will release today, have done well and Manju's innocent avatar has already aroused people's interest. The movie revolving around a single mother is speculated to be a remake of Tamil movie Amma Kanakku.

Biju Menon will also have a release this week with Sherlock Toms releasing on Friday. The movie, directed by Shafi who is known to have a steady career graph, is likely to draw in the crowd, thanks to its entertainment value. Sherlock Toms has Srinda playing Biju Menon's wife.

While Tamil biggie Spyder, starring Mahesh Babu, was released all over Kerala on Thursday, it failed to draw in the crowd and registered just an average opening. The movie is being screened in 126 screens all over the state.

Last week's release Parava too is doing well at the box office.
