Jayaram to make his Pandimelam debut at Panachikkadu temple

Actor Jayaram, a skilled percussionist, is all set for his debut  in Pandimelam (classical chenda concert).  The actor’s ‘arangettam’ (debut)   will be held at Panachikkadu Saraswathi Temple, Kottayam, on May 26.


“I have been taking lessons in Pandimelam from Mattannur Sankarankutty  Marar for the past few months. I stayed at his residence at Vellinezhi in  Malappuram district,”  says Jayaram. 
The actor, who has enthralled audience through his chenda performances at  various temple festivals, says his passion for percussion prompted him to take lessons in Pandimelam. Jayaram has already showcased his skills in  Pancharimelam.


Panachikkadu Saraswathi Temple is tagged as the Dakshina Mookambika Temple and is the best place for being initiated to a new artfrom. “Moreover, the  Ezhuthiniruthu ceremony, traditional introduction to the world of letters,  of my son Kalidasan was held there,” he says. Mattannur will attend the ceremony being held at 8 am on the temple premises.


The actor has been leading the acclaimed ‘Pavizhamallitharamelam’ being held at Chottanikkara temple for the past three years along with about 150 chenda artists. Jayaram’s skills with the chenda have bestowed him role of a professional percussionist in Prakash Raj’s upcoming directorial, which will be released in Malayalam and Tamil. 


Meanwhile, Jayaram will be seen sporting a new look in his upcoming movie  Aakasha Mittai, directed by Samuthirakani. “Aakasha Mittai is a depiction of father-son relation. Though there have been many movies in this theme, Aakasha Mittai will stand apart,” he says. 


According to him, the success of Achayans, directed by Kannan Thamarakulam  has brought a relief to his career graph. “The triumph of the movie is the result of a perfect package,” he adds.
