Joseph is a character study and an investigation story: Shahi Kabir

Actor Joju George's upcoming police drama Joseph will hit theatres on November 16. Directed by M Padmakumar and produced by Shoukathprasoon, the film's intriguing teaser piqued the curiosity of many viewers. In the film, Joju plays the role of a retired police officer called Joseph.

Joseph is penned by Shahi Kabir, who happens to be a policeman himself. He tells us that the film is a character study and an investigation story rolled into one. "In some cases, the police seek the assistance of ex-cops who, armed with a wealth of experience and knowledge, bring in their unique ideas and perspectives to a particular case. Joseph is one such cop," says Shahi.

Shahi adds that the story is a completely fictitious one but with a high degree of realism. On whether he had Joju in mind when writing the script, he says, "I felt Joju would be apt for playing this character after seeing him in Lukka Chuppi."Speaking a bit on Joju's character, he says that he is a loner whose wife divorced him many years ago."This is a psychologically damaged man. His wife got married to a man played by Dileesh Pothan."

Interestingly, Shahi had served as an assistant director on Dileesh's Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. He also had a small role in the film. It was Tovino Thomas who introduced Shahi to Dileesh.

Joseph is shot by cinematographer Manesh Madhavan and edited by Kiran Das (Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum). Joju will be also seen next in Sanal Kumar Sasidharan's Chola and Ajinlal and Jayan Vannery's Ottakkoru Kamukan.
