With just a month left for the release of Kattalan, there has been a major reshuffle in the film's technical team as Ravi Basrur has replaced Ajaneesh Lokanath as the composer. Ajaneesh of Kantara fame had earlier composed a song titled 'Majako Mallika' for Kattalan, besides handling the teaser's background score. However, it is not yet known what prompted the last-minute change.
Ravi Basrur, best known for his work in the KGF films and Salaar, made his Malayalam debut in 2024 with Marco. Notably, Cubes Entertainments, the banner which produced Marco, is backing Kattalan as well.
Kattalan, featuring Antony Varghese Pepe in the lead, is an action thriller set against the backdrop of ivory smuggling. Debutant Paul George is directing the film, apart from co-writing it with Joby Varghese and Jero Jacob. Unni R has penned the dialogues.
Kattalan features a multilingual cast that includes Dushara Vijayan, Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish, Siddique, Anson Paul, Raj Tirandasu, rapper Baby Jean, Hipster, singer Hanan Shaah, Parth Tiwari and Shibin S Raghav. The film, scheduled for release on May 14, also has cinematographer Renadive, editor Shameer Muhammed, and stunt choreographer Kecha Khamphakdee as part of the crew.
