Director Lingusamy is all set to proceed with the shooting of his next project titled Paiyya. Speaking to Expresso, the director disclosed, “We are having the photo shoots on December 15 and 16 in the city. After that, the unit will proceed to Bangalore for a 20 day schedule.” Now that’s perhaps good news for the fans of the film’s hero Karthi.
The actor’s debut hit Paruthiveeran was released in February 2007.
After that, he has been shooting intermittently for Selvaraghavan’s magnum opus Ayirathil Oruvan . Reportedly, the shooting of the film is yet to be completed, holding up Karthi.
He has not had any release in 2008 despite a dream debut.
For those who are wondering why he could not juggle the dates and accommodate Lingusamy’s film as well, the answer lies in the continuity issue. Apparently Karthi has a beard in Ayirathil Oruvan and has to shave it off for his look in Paiya. Looks like Karthi has finally decided to go ahead with his next project and put an end to the endless wait he has been through with Ayirathil Oruvan.
Lingusamy is upbeat about his project. Ask him about the hero and he reveals. “This is a youth film. Karthi will be appearing on screen very much like he is in real life. There is no getup involved. He has already started gymming and gearing up for the role.” Needless to say, after several movies playing a glam doll, Nayan’s fans are wondering how Lingusamy is going to shape up her next character. There seems to be good news. Says Lingusamy, “My films have the glam and youthful element but Nayantara will also be given a lot of scope for acting in Paiyya.” We try to find out the storyline and more details about the lead cast’s characterisation and Lingusamy laughs, “ If I reveal that, I will be giving away the story! But fans can expect an action cum love story. I have developed further on the patterns seen in Sandakozhi and Run and Paiyya will follow the same thread. It will be a jolly film.” The new element is the casting of Bollywood actor Milind Soman (remember the villain in Pachaikili Muthucharam ?) in a negative role.
However, the big question still persists for Karthi. His Paruthiveeran took two years to make and Ayirathil Oruvan seems to be following suit. His next director Lingusamy too took nearly two years to release his Bheema.
So will Paiyya see a release anytime soon? Lingusamy answers confidently, “We are looking for an August 2009 release.” Now that’s good news indeed for fans of Lingusamy and Karthi!
