Here is a good news for Kumar Govind fans. Govind has joined hands with real star Upendra after a gap of 15 years. Both are acting as friends in Dubai Babu, a re-make of Telugu film Dubai Seenu in which Ravi Teja played the lead role.
A small brief for those who did not much about Govind. Both of them have worked for the film Shh.... Govind played the lead role in the film Anuraaga Sangama in which Sudharani was the heroine.
Later, he acted in many films but majority of them were bombed at the box office. He has been working on the script for the film Satya for the last few years.
Now, he makes a come back with the film Dubai Babu. "My joy knew no bounds when I received a phone call from Upendra. He insisted me to play this role and I accepted it. I am very happy to work with Upendra after a long gap. It was a nice experience. I hope to work with Upendra in one more film provided he adjusts his call-sheet," says Govind.
However, Upendra has said that he was ready to act in films with Govind but the latter was occupied with his own project. "I never forget my annadaatha (benefactor) Govind. He gave me a chance to direct the film Shh... He has acted well along with Salony in this film,’’ says Upendra.
However, many pandits in Gandhinagar are vying among themselves on the success or failure of Dubai Babu at the box office. While a few of them are predicting a hat trick for the trio Upendra, director Naganna and producer Shailendra Babu, others feel that chances are remote since its Telugu version was not a big success at the box office. It may be recalled that Upendra, Babu and Naganna had worked for successful films Kutumba and Gowramma, remakes of Telugu films. Now, the trio have joined hands once again to try their luck.
"It is an out and out comedy film. Narration will be a racy one and all the artistes had put lot of efforts to keep the pace," says Upendra.
The other speciality of this film is Dwarakeesh who plays an important role. If Dubai Babu becomes a hit at the box office, the year 2008 will be a memorable one for Upendra, who is basking in the recent success of his film Budhivantha.
Will the trio succeed in achieving an hat trick or not? We have to wait and watch for a few more months.
