STRANGE but true. 'Pokkisham', director Cheran’s forthcoming project, has a story strikingly similar to that of the 2003- South Korean film, The Classic. The latter was the recipient of several international honours and was directed by Kwak Jae-yong.

'Pokkisham' is written and directed by National Award-winning director Cheran and has Padmapriya playing his love interest. It is said to be an intense love story with love letters being an important feature in the storyline.

Surprisingly, the same holds true for The Classic, which is the story of how a daughter unravels the love letters her parents exchanged and uses it to guide her love life. When asked, director Cheran said the film was neither an inspiration nor a blatant rip off. “I have not seen the Korean film, but if The Classic’s story is the same as mine, I will only feel proud. That will be the biggest proof of the universality of art and I’ll feel special that someone in Korea shares my thinking.”

Pokkisham is a period flick and has music by Sabesh Murali. The audio of the film is slated for a mid-April release and the film is produced by Nemichand Jabak.
