If there are two people who are really counting on the release of the new film Malai Malai, it’s the leading pair, Vedika, and Arun Vijay. After proving her mettle in films opposite experienced heroes including Arjun and Silambarasan, Vedika is now keeping her fingers crossed for the response for the film. Malai Malai, being her fifth film, Vedika plays a role of a bubbly and vivacious character of a radio jockey. “It’s one of those uncommon roles one gets to do in their career,” Vedika adds.

With big names including Prabhu, Prakashraj, comedians Santhanam and Kanja Karuppu vying to get attention of the audience with their trademark performancse in the film, Vedika opted for Malai Malai, as she found a huge talent pool both in the cast and the crew. “A Venkatesh has made the film and the music is by Mani Sharma. What more can one ask for than this big list of talented artists,” responds the actor to a question on her choice.

Not just as an actor but proving her dancing prowess, Vedika proudly says she has honed her skills at dancing right from her school days, later tutoring under Shiamak Davar. “I have also learnt different skills from different people including my co-star Simbu,” she adds. Saying a big ‘no’ to swimsuit acts in her films, Vedika finds herself best suited for roles that are more demanding rather than doing a mere skin show, insisting that her acting is what she now focusing on to improve. “I want to do quality work and not act in films for money,” says the sultry siren adding that she is now doing a film in Telugu titled Baanam that launches former CM Chandrababu Naidu’s nephew as hero.

Hoping to act with top stars like Amitabh Bachachan and Rajinikanth in the future, the actor says she is game for any roles and would love to act in negative and dual roles like Sridevi in Chaalbaaz and Hemamalini in Sita aur Gita. With no time for personal commitments, Vedika signs off saying, “My work is my boyfriend and I don’t have time for the rest because I don’t cheat on work.”
