Endhiran: It’s the most awaited Rajini film, especially since the superstar is pairing with Aishwarya Rai, an offer she had refused with his superhit, Padayappa. It is touted to be the most expensive Tamil film ever made — at over Rs 150 crore.
Ashokavanam (working title): It’s
Mani Ratnam’s direct Tamil film, five years after Ayutha Ezhuthu. The combination
of Vikram, Aishwarya, Prithviraj and Priyamani with music by AR Rahman,
simply makes it a must watch.
Sultan the warrior: An Indian feature computer-animation film starring Rajinikanth. Expected to be released worldwide in early this year with 3,500 prints (the highest yet in Indian cinema), it is directed by his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth.
Thalaivan Irukkinraan: Shooting for Marmayogi may not take-off, but this is the project Kamal Haasan has decided to do to earn a quick buck. Last seen in Dasavathaaram, Kamal is said to direct and act this rib tickler.
Aayirathil Oruvan: A film by Selvaraghavan who has only hits and superhits to his credit, this film has been in the making for close to two years. This is Karthi’s second movie after the award-winning Paruthiveeran. And with the fall out between Yuvan and Selva, supposed romance between Reema and Karthi, there’s enough steam to make this movie an anticipated fare.
Villu: After giving two biggest flops of the year Azhagiya Tamizh Magan and Kuruvi, Vijay is back with Villu. His co-star Nayanthara has had a bad year too after three consecutive duds — Aegan, Kuselan and Sathyam. It is directed by Prabhu Deva.
Naan kadavul: It has taken more than a year and a half of Arya’s time, and is finally set to hit the screens early this year. This film by Bala is said to be a strong contender for awards. Rumour has it that Arya plays a cannibal in the movie with a stunning climax.
kandhasamy: A Vikram-Shriya starrer directed by Susi Ganesan and produced by Kalaipuli Dhanu, the launch for the movie
carried an invitation that cost Rs 1,500
each. Also, the trailer was released before even shooting of the film began. Vikram is supposed to don six different looks, including that of a woman.
