ACTOR Prashanth and his dad, Thyagarajan, who is directing his son’s current flick, Mambattiyan, claim to have a winner on their hands. The film, says its director, had the best men in the industry, from actors to technicians. “With one of the finest actors like Vadivelu, Prakash Raj and Meera Jasmine, it was one of the easiest films to shoot. Add to this all the difference that planning well can bring,” says the director, who is also producing the film.

However, one important aspect of the film is being kept a secret. The film’s music director. Ask the crew about the film, and all they volunteer to say is that the film has five songs, including a remix of Kaatu Vazhi Pora Penna, a song from the original. “All five songs have been canned and we are just waiting to launch the music in a different way,” says Thyagarajan. And that comes as no surprise, coming from the man who began the tradition of grand audio launches for films with his 1988 movie, Poovukkul Boogumbam.

“But the traditional audio launch that we have now has almost become a ritual. So we’re planning something big with the movie’s music.

Which is why we’re keeping the name a surprise,” says Thyagarajan.

Actor Prashanth, on his part, also has the distinction of doing one of the earliest audio launches live on radio. “The audio for my film London was done live on radio. I had a complete five-hour slot then. That’s a one-ofa- kind event. Mambattiyaan’s audio too, will be different,” he vows.
