“CALL me Amala and not Anakha. I have decided to retain my original name,” says the actress, who made her debut in Veerasekaran. Before the release of Sindhu Samaveli, director Sami gave her the name Anakha, but now she wants to be called Amala. This bold lass is not at all perturbed by the controversies surrounding her film Sindhu Samaveli (about an illicit relationship between a father-in-law and daughter-in-law). Says Amla, “I don’t want to talk about it now.

The film is released and success depends on the audience.” On her recent movie Mynaa, she says, “I’m very happy with the way my character Mynaa has shaped up and I’m eagerly waiting for the release. I play a tribal girl who is very innocent. It’s like a new dawn. Red Giant Movies took over the distribution rights and the songs have come out well,” explains the actress, who was modeling before foraying into movies.

Mynaa is a love story and it revolves around the life of Surali (played by Vidarth) and Mynaa, who lives in a village called Kurangani. From Kamal Haasan to Censor Board officials, everyone has praised the movie and its storyline. Says Amala, “Even during the shoot, I knew the film would be a superhit. Director Prabhu Solomon has created magic on screen. The shooting took place at Munnar, Theni and Korangani. Though I hail from Cochin, I’ve never stayed at Munnar for more than two days. But I stayed there for more than 40 days during the shoot. Thanks to Mynaa.” Amala’s kitty is now full with two projects. This lovely lady is eagerly waiting for the release of Mynaa, which will hit screens on Deepavali.
