The audio launch of Easan was different from the usual fare as directors from other states participated and praised the Subramaniapuram director Sasikumar. Eminent director Anurag Kashyap, who was one of the chief guests, said, “My next film, which will run for five hours, is inspired by Subramaniapuram.” “I hail from Varanasi and have spent a number of hours sitting on the ghats of the Ganges. But I never thought of making a film like Naan Kadavul. I was awe-struck after watching the film directed by Bala,” added Anurag, acknowledging the presence of veteran director Bala in the gathering.
Renjith from Mollywood and Yograj Bhat from Sandalwood praised Sasikumar and talked about the array of talents lined up in Kollywood.
Samudrakani, who plays a pivotal role in Easan, said that Sasikumar wanted to invite veteran directors from different parts of the country for the audio launch so that Tamil cinema would get recognition from across the country. Veteran director K Balachander said if he were 20 years younger, he would have competed with directors like Bala, Ameer and Sasikumar.
Sasikumar said he owed everything to his mentors Ameer and Bala.
Though the glamour quotient was missing at the launch, Sasikumar at the end of the event called his two heroines — Abinaya and Aparna to fill the void. The hero of the event, James Vasanthan, music director of Easan said, “There are five songs in the film. I had a tough time ensuring that Sukhwinder Singh got his Tamil pronunciations right,” he said. Producers’ Council President Ramanarayanan, directors Bala, Ameer and lyricist Na Muthukumar also spoke on the occasion.
