It was through television, Sanjeev bagged his debut film offer Kulir 100°, and it was again through television, Sanjeev was picked up by Solairaja, the director of Neeyum Naanum. A choreographer by profession, Sanjeev came to Chennai from Coimbatore to participate in a reality show on a private channel. “Anita Udeep, director of Kulir 100°, spotted me after seeing my performance on the show, and offered me the hero’s role,” says Sanjeev. Thanks to foot tapping songs in the film, director Solairaja saw one of his songs from Kulir 100° and offered him the role of a choreographer in the film Neeyum Naanum, which was released recently.
“Since I was a choreographer in a dance school in Coimbatore, I accepted the offer without giving a second thought,” says the handsome actor. Sanjeev brushed up his dancing skills and learnt hip-hop, salsa and western. “Solairaja told me that my dance steps should not have traces of any Indian style, so I learnt to perform the flip dance and stunts. I was very happy to do the film as I had more scope to showcase my dancing skills,” beams Sanjeev.
Sanjeev’s third film Sahaakal, directed by L M K Swamy, is ready and all set to hit the screens shortly. Sanjeev plays the lead role in the film, which is inspired from a true story. The 22-year-old hero gives importance to script and does not fancy hero-centric roles. “I want to play good roles and that’s what I’m looking for as of now,” he concludes.
